Spraying the horses legs with "Pam" or a "non-stick cooking spray" before trail rides is supposed to prevent TICKS from climbing up horses legs during the ride. Some soapy water is supposed to remove the spray when you return.

Try putting liniment, leg and body wash, etc. in a spray bottle. It makes it easier to use and you will avoid spilling the leg brace all over. It will get applied to the correct area, not the ground. If your horse or pony isn't good with a spray bottle, practice with a spray bottle filled with water or empty until they get desensitized and used to the sound, spraying motion, etc.

Buying a horse is a major decision, and one you will live with (as will your horse) for a long time. Done right, it can be a joyous experience. Pick the wrong horse and it can be a constant reminder of what you should have done.
